The Gardens at Wells House

The gardens at Wells House & Gardens were designed by renowned architect Daniel Robertson. Between the years of 1835 and 1838 he introduced many landscape features including the Terrace Gardens, Radiating Parterre, Arboretum and Main Avenue. These gardens really do provide the perfect setting to relax and play.

The Walled Garden

In 2022 we opened the walled garden to the public to create a new space to relax and reconnect in with seating and this space has become a haven for butterflies during the summer months!

The Arboretum

From the formal terrace gardens the second piece of restoration work on the grounds of the Wells estate undertaken since opening to the public was the arboretum. The entrance to this area begins at the fountain where Fairy Flo sits proudly.

The fairy theme of a visit to Wells begins in the arboretum with our fairy house and more!

As you leave the arboretum you will find yourself entering Hobbington land  where you can see the home the hobbits have made in Wells.
