Wells House & Garden
From the formal terrace gardens the second piece of restoration work on the grounds of the Wells estate undertaken since opening to the public was the arboretum. The entrance to this area begins at the fountain where Fairy Flo sits proudly.
The fairy theme of a visit to Wells begins in the arboretum with our fairy house and two commissioned sculptures by Emma Jane Rushworth fly high in the skies blowing wishes and capturing them! Please keep an eye out for these on your visit!
The arboretum holds a special place for many as there is the opportunity to buy and plant a tree in memory of loved one.
As you leave the arboretum you will find yourself entering Hobbinton land where you can see the home the hobbits have made in Wells.
What People say
It was our first visit to Wells house and we are from Wexford! We found the staff very friendly and accommodating even though we were a few minutes late for the 2pm tour.
Edel our tour guide was very knowledgeable, informative and made the tour really enjoyable. It’s amazing the way the locals protected the house during 1798 it shows how much they admired and respected the Doyne family.
We will definitely be returning for some of the events throughout the year, to see the garden in full bloom and maybe even Victorian afternoon tea!
