As the seasons change, the gardens and grounds at Wells tell a different story, from summer blooms to autumn colours, winter hibernation and new growth again in Spring. Enjoy unlimited visits with your annual pass to enjoy the grounds as the year unfolds.
That’s unlimited access to the adventure playground, the walled garden, the terrace garden, the arboretum, Lady Frances’s Woodland Walk, Mogue’s Enchanted Woodland Walk where dragons & trolls have made their home and of course Animal Farm.
There are various options available for adults, families, seniors and students.

Guided House Tour
Step back in time with a guided tour of our 17th century house and discover 400 years of history. Led by a costumed tour guide, explore the grand rooms of the house that tell the stories of Cromwell, Rebellion and the Famine. Learn more of the families who called the estate home and the work of renowned architect Daniel Robertson.

Off-Season: Saturday, Sunday. Please note that due to private functions taking place at Wells House, our guided house tours will be unavailable at the following times: on Wednesday 7th August at 3pm; and Friday 9th August at 3pm. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Guided Tours of the Gardens at Wells House
Dating back to the 1600s and later reimagined by the renowned architect and landscape designer Daniel Robertson—whose work also graces Johnstown Castle, Killruddery, and the world-famous Powerscourt Gardens—these stunning grounds are a true hidden gem to enjoy when visiting Wexford and a super story waiting to be told in Ireland’s Ancient East.
Join our Head Gardener, Kevin, for an informative and informal walking tour, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the restoration and upkeep of these historic gardens.

Meet the Meerkats at Wells House
Come meet our meerkat mob at Wells House and Gardens for an unforgettable and fun experience for all the family! Would you like to hang out with these curious creatures while they scamper around your feet?
You will give them some of their favourite tasty treats and play with them with their favourite toys. You will learn some fun facts and get the chance to ask any questions with the member of staff.
Don’t forget their favourite activity – posing for selfies on your lap while eating tasty treats!
Please note the animal experiences are not wheelchair accessible.
Please note – There will be a health and safety talk before the start of the experience and please be sure to wear the appropriate clothing as per our ticket details! Please note – under 5’s are not allowed in the experience

Exotic Animal Experience at Wells House
Come meet our prehistoric gentle giants and cheeky racoon! This experience is one of a kind and the closest you will ever come to a racoon. Your family will have the chance to get up close and meet our mischievous racoon, Bonnie. Then spend some time with Crush and Squirt our super cute Tortoises.
During the Exotic animal encounter, you will learn about how the animals are looked after here in Wells, along with how to care for them! You will get the chance to meet and feed our giant tortoise and share a biccy with our cheeky racoon.
There is lots to learn and time for asking questions about both species, and of course the obligatory selfie or family pic to keep this special memory forever.

Our 17th century Victorian Manor House and a history dating back to the days of Cromwell was remodelled by the renowned architect Daniel Robertson in the 1830s. He is also responsible for the parkland and garden landscape that have been lovingly restored in recent years.
Discover dragons, fairies, trolls and much more on our two Woodland Walks. Spend time in our Adventure playground and make friends in our animal farm. Find a spot to relax on our terraced gardens, in our arboretum or walled garden.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to book online?
We would recommend for peak seasons and weekends that all guests book online for us to control the number of people visiting Wells House and Gardens at any one time.
Annual Members must bring their membership card and ID with them on arrival.
If I am an annual member, do I still need to book my tickets online?
If you are an Annual Member, there is no need to prebook your entry to Wells House and Gardens but do bring your membership card with you on your visit.
Can I bring a picnic and eat it on the grounds?
Yes, you are more than welcome to enjoy a picnic on the grounds of Wells House and Gardens. We have a picnic area conveniently located beside the playground and operate a waste management plant with compost and recycling bins throughout the grounds.
Please respect our grounds fellow visitors by not littering during your visit and tidy up after your picnic.
Will the playground be open?
Yes, our playground is open our cleaning policy is in line with government recommendations.
Please note our playground is suitable for age 12 and under. We do not allow hurling on the grounds.
Do you have Baby Changing Facilities on site?
Baby changing facilities are available at beside Brambles cafe to the left of the main house. Both the male and female toilets offer baby changing stations.
Are dogs permitted on site?
Dogs are welcome to visit the grounds of Wells House and Gardens but we do ask that they remain on a lead at all times.
Throughout the woodland walks are dog litter bins that we ask you to use.
Are the Grounds wheelchair accessible?
Yes, both the woodland walks and gardens are wheelchair and buggy friendly.
Are drones permitted on the grounds?
No drones are permitted on the premises of Wells House & Gardens at any time.

Our Adventure Playground is perfect for letting the kids work off some energy before getting back on the bus. All our packages offer free playtime for all.
