Gallivanting Tours Presents
Focusing on the Secret Life of Trees, Lorraine O’Dwyer of Gallivanting.ie invited you on a tour unlike any garden tour you’ve done before!
You’ll hear of the amazing scientific discoveries made in recent years, uncovering the Wood Wide Web, a huge underground network that allows trees to nurture and care for their families and communities.
Discover how trees talk, taste, see and even count! Meet the Mother Trees who rule the forest, and hear how they administer food and support to older or ill trees. Meet the bratty teenagers and the serious contenders too!
You’ll also find out how to connect with the trees and which ones were used by the Druids and FIlí for magic, ritual and more!
This promises to be a fascinating walk, and one that finishes with a lovely hearty bowl of soup in Brambles Cafe and gives you the rest of the day to explore the remainder of the gardens of even the house itself!
Discover the 400-year-old history of our 17th Century House by taking a guided tour of the house. Our living house tour and expert guide hosts the tour in Victorian dress when you will be brought back in to experience what life was like in an estate house like Wells for both the owners and servants. Hear the stories of the house from Cromwell, Rebellions and the Famine and to the transformation of the house in the 1830s to the structure you see today with the magnificent ground floor and bedrooms. Uncover the everyday lives of the wealthy and powerful families who lived in the estate and their famed architect Daniel Robertson. The tour promises to give you a unique insight into the lives of previous generations all the way up until the current owners of Wells House & Gardens.
