A New Chapter Begins – Discover Our Refurbished Courtyard Cottages at Wells House & Gardens
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from the heart of the Wells House & Gardens estate — the first phase of our Courtyard Cottage renovations is now complete!
Nestled within the historic stable block, these newly refurbished self-catering cottages offer a beautiful blend of period charm and contemporary comfort. While the exterior remains faithful to the original 19th-century design by renowned landscape architect Daniel Robertson — the creative mind behind gardens at Powerscourt, Killruddery, and Johnstown Castle — the interiors have been thoughtfully redesigned to provide warm, inviting, and practical accommodation for today’s visitors.
Whether you’re planning a family escape, a couples’ getaway, or a group adventure, the Courtyard Cottages provide a perfect home-from-home, just steps from the magic of our woodland walks, arboretum, adventure playground, fairy trails, and animal farm. And with a year-round calendar of events — from the Wells Food Fest and Classic Car Show to Halloween spooktaculars and Christmas wonderlands — there’s always something happening on the estate.
Property Manager Damian Cullen shares:
“We’re proud to see the first phase of this project come to life. These cottages not only honour the architectural heritage of Wells but also meet the needs of today’s guests looking for comfort, convenience, and a little bit of countryside charm.”
The cottages are also ideally located for exploring County Wexford, just minutes from the Blue Flag beach at Morriscastle, the lively village of Kilmuckridge, and the historic towns of Gorey and Enniscorthy.
Sean Doyle, owner of Wells House & Gardens, explains:
“This renovation marks an important step in our journey to offer full, immersive experiences to our visitors — where you can explore by day and stay by night, all surrounded by the beauty and history of Wells.”
And this is just the beginning — further renovations are already planned for 2024 and 2025, as we continue breathing new life into the estate’s historic buildings.
